Constants

For as long as I can remember, this jar at my grandmother's has had peanut M&M's in it. When I went back for a visit last October, there it was. And just as I had done hundreds of times before, I grabbed a handful and heard the familiar sound of candy on glass. As much as I enjoy things that are new and exciting, it's nice to know that some things remain the same.

Other side of the street

Took these on my walk back from lunch the other day. I decided to walk down the opposite side of the street from my last visit.

Doing my part

In the grand internet tradition of taking pictures of what you're eating, here's my contribution. I call it simply, "Lunch".

Warbirds

My younger son and I went to the local airport last weekend just for fun, and while we were there we got an impromptu airshow. The sounds of these planes was awesome! And yes it is obvious why I normally shoot still images instead of video.

In case you're keeping score, that's two F8F Bearcats, one Japanese Zero, one F7F-3 Tigercat and two P-51 Mustangs.

Lady of the house

We bought one of those kits that allows you to watch ladybugs grow from tiny little larvae to mature specimens. Well, we nurtured and watched, watched and nurtured then let them go when the time was right. A few days ago I went outside and noticed two of the little ladies had returned to hang out by the front door. How do I know they were "our" ladybugs you might ask. 'Cause I know, that's why. We were tight.

Yes that is the outside wall of my house and yes it's purple.

Agapanthus across the streetus

As the temperature hits triple digits, I can look at this and remember the cooler days of Spring. Happy first day of Summer everyone!

Photojournalist

There's a great article and video about a film that combines still images and video to show the process and situations that a conflict photographer goes through. Click here for the goods.

Dandy

Got a few shots of this before the kids blew it away. They sure can be a nuisance in your yard, but there's some awesome detail when you get up close.

Growing up too fast

My beautiful baby girl is going to be a beautiful young woman before I know it. I must enjoy these times.

Purple?

Not originally purple, but I liked it this way. Courtesy again of the L.A. Zoo.

You know that I know...

Back to the L.A. Zoo for another fun filled family outing. The new Gorilla exhibit is awesome and I could certainly spend several hours there. In fact I plan on doing just that in the near future. Anywho, this was a brief stop, but there was no lack of interesting stuff to see. This girl was chillin' in the shade, giving me the knowing look.

Ready for my closeup

We've had some knockout flowers delivered to work recently. These lilies just blew me away when I saw them and I had to get up close and personal with 'em.
