I went out today and shot my first session with a band. What a blast! A friend of mine started the band and it just got picked up by a label. They needed some promotional shots so I thought it would be a good learning opportunity for me and a chance for them to get some free pictures. Who knows, they might even be decent pictures! I will be sharing some of those when I'm able, until then you can gaze upon a chair that I was using for some outdoor portraits.

I was walking around work this morning looking for something interesting to shoot and I came across a fountain. Shooting the fountain itself wasn't really an option because the things around it were visually unappealing. I decided instead to focus on the patterns and movement in the water. Exploring this idea I found that shooting with a longer shutter speed gave me some nice results. As with many things that move or have motion, using a longer shutter speed can demonstrate that movement and take an image from something very static to something with energy, or in this case something abstract. Give it a try sometime!

Yesterday our beloved Sphynx Buffy died. She would have been 6 years old next month. We miss her.

I spent last evening sitting with my lovely wife by the fire pit in 60 degree weather. Yes, I know there are many people (some of you) who are snowed in and have been for several days; don't hate. The price of this weather is the high cost of living and threat of earthquakes! You can laugh at me when I'm complaining about it being 115 degrees in the middle of summer.
This is taken from Point Loma in San Diego. The three boats are Navy Seals returning from who knows where, doing who knows what. San Diego never disappoints.
Took this on one (of many) trips to San Diego last year. Aircraft carrier + cool helicopter + stormy sky = awesome!
