I took my youngest son to the viewing area at the local airport (most outings seem to end up there) and he had a blast. I didn't feel like taking my big camera so I used my Canon G9. What a great little camera. Times like that remind me that it's always worth it to take the time.

Taking time

Does this color make me look fat?
A couple of flamingos from my last trip to the zoo. It's very difficult to isolate these birds as they tend to stand around in bunches. Patience pays off though.

She's a natural
Well you knew I couldn't go very long without putting my girl in the "studio" for a few shots. She prefers looking at the screen on the back of the camera more than being in front of it, but the camera does love her.

In the studio
This is my first attempt at taking "studio" type pictures of the kids. I generally dislike the flat, even lighting that most portrait studios produce so I tried to do something with a bit more texture. So much to learn, but so much fun.

Got da blues
I had fun with the color exercise the other day so I thought I would try it again, only this time with blue.

Looking back
I was looking around in some older images and I ran across this one from last Thanksgiving. I had passed this one over before, but after giving it a bit of love I ended up with something I really like.
Seeing red
I went for a walk around my neighborhood the other evening (gotta love those L.A. winters) and I decided to give myself a little assignment. I would only shoot things that were red or had red in them. It's amazing what such a simple constraint can do to get your mind working and your eyes seeing. Three guesses what the first image is.

The Huntington Solo
My son had a play date the other day with his best friend who's mother just happens to be one of my wifes' best friends. Normally they get together while I'm at work, but I happened to have the day off so I decided to take the opportunity to visit the Huntington Library all by my little self. It was a glorious day to be outside and I took time to stop and smell the roses (and myriad other plants).

Start at the end
This was the end of my visit to the old Nike missile site at the end of Mulholland Drive. I have more to come from my walk around the site, but I thought I would tease with this. Please click on the picture for a larger size.

Revisiting
After seeing the two Texans take off the other day I really wanted to get back and take some more close up shots of them. When I saw that it was overcast I knew that it would be a perfect time to catch them without all the normal reflections. Such beauty in their purposefullness.
