I wanted to show the awesome variety of aircraft that were flown at the Edwards Air Show. Here are some of my favorites. If you can name all of them, you win a prize! Not really, but give yourself a hearty pat on the back.

Airshow HDR's

On Saturday I went with my dad and oldest son to Edwards Air Force Base for an airshow. I went to Edwards about 12 years ago for an airshow and it was the best I had ever seen. Hi, I'm Marshall, and I'm an airshow junkie. I've loved planes, especially military planes, all my life so any chance I get to see them up close is a no brainer. This year's show didn't disappoint. As soon as the first jet flew by with afterburner glowing and mind warping sound, I was a kid again. I looked like a total dork with two cameras and a big floppy hat, but I didn't care because I was having such an awesome time. My son had a million questions and I loved answering them all. I'm sure it was no different than the first time my dad took me to an airshow; all wide-eyed and full of wonder and questions.

I'll be posting more pictures over the coming weeks, but I wanted to put a few of my favorites so far. These are all HDR images made from three exposures each. It's fun experimenting with new techniques and pushing myself!

It's like Motion Monday up in this blog! I was so excited about all the clouds around here this past weekend that I wanted capture them, but not in a static way. I've always really enjoyed time lapse photography and videography, so I thought I'd give it a go. I used the time lapse feature on my G9 to capture these. Please to enjoy!

Beach baptism

As usual, I took a lot of images to end up with just a few that I liked. On the bright side, those extra shots didn't cost me anything! This is one of the great benefits of digital photography. Shot a bunch, make mistakes, learn from them, improve your photography. Also, when you're shooting something that's been photographed a lot, or a lot of other photographers are covering the same event, go where the other guys, or gals aren't. Everyone else was shooting this with the sun behind them so they could see the people's faces, so I went for something different. Shooting into the sun, I got these great silhouettes and, I think, an image more about the event and less about that particular person.

Seems only appropriate that I would find a beautiful spider web on the Sony lot.
